Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev took part in the ceremony of laying flowers dedicated to the 12th anniversary of the death of Comandante Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias. This was reported by the press service of the South Ossetian Embassy.
As noted by the diplomatic department, Gassiev participated in the ceremony at the invitation of Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Russia Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez.
"The name of President Hugo Chavez is forever inscribed in the history of the South Ossetian state. Venezuela recognized the independence of South Ossetia on September 10, 2009, and this is a great personal merit of the Comandante. Our people will always be grateful to him for this,” the Embassy has emphasized.
The memorial event, which took place on Hugo Chavez Street in Moscow, was attended by the ambassadors of foreign states, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and other officials.
