The ICRC photo exhibition will be held in South Ossetia

A photo exhibition "People and fates" dedicated to the people of the North Caucasus and South Ossetia will be held In Tskhinval. As IA "Res" has been informed by the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) spokesperson Marina Tedety,
"the photos that will be presented at the exhibition, were made by the ICRC employee Marco Kokich. Last year he traveled to Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia-Alania and South Ossetia - said Tedety. – The photos` author has met with the ICRC recipients, the people suffering from the effects of the armed conflict and other situations of violence."

Mikhail Chernov: Georgia is preparing for another war in the Caucasus

The recent statements by the president of Georgia point to preparations for a new war against South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Boxers from South Ossetia won three first places in the international tournament

South Ossetian fighter won the European title among professionals

Professional boxer from South Ossetia Aslanbek Kozaev won the European title in boxing in the weight class up to 66.6 kg according to WBC. As IA "Res" has been informed by the coach of the athlete Vitaly Slanov, "the fight took place in Moscow on April 8, 2012. The rival of Kozaev was the 25 year old athlete from Belarus Andrey Abramenko - a champion of the Eastern European version of the WBC. Leonid Tibilov has been announced the elected president of South Ossetia

The presidential candidate of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, after the 100% processing of
protocols of the territorial election committees in the elections of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia has gained 54.12% of votes (15,786 people), and the ombudsman David Sanakoev -42.65% votes (12,439 people),- has been declared by the CEC Chairman Bella Plieva at the CEC Information Center.

Polling stations in the presidential elections of South Ossetia have been closed; the voting in the Republic came to an end.
As stated by the Chairman of the Central Election Committee Bella Plieva, at 18:00 a turnout in the second round of presidential elections in South Ossetia amounted to 63.31%. Later the CEC will present the more accurate data on the turnout of voters. She has said the vote went off without significant violations, "though there were some remarks and misunderstandings at the polls, including power outages, but the CEC quickly reacted to them and they were promptly removed without affecting the course of voting."
