The war in August 2008. On the eve of invasion ...

The treacherous attack by Georgia on South Ossetia in August 2008 was not a complete surprise to the population and the authorities of the Republic. Since the end of July, after the completion of the joint Georgian-US military exercises "Immediate Response", the tension in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone increased dramatically - became more frequent the Georgian unmanned reconnaissance flights over the territory of South Ossetia, terrorist attacks, shelling Ossetian settlements that led to numerous victims.

The development of the economy of South Ossetia is not possible without the revival of industry. This was stated by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov at a press conference in Tskhinval.

South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov awarded a native of the Republic Amanda Kokoeva with a Certificate of Honor for showing integrity in objective informing the international community of the events in August 2008.

Parliament of South Ossetia during today's presidium has approved the investment program to promote socio-economic development of the Republic for 2012-2013, approved at the eighth meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic and social cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia.

South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has awarded Russian journalists, who are in the Republic within the framework of the press tour, with the Certificates of Honor of South Ossetia.
The ceremony took place today after the press conference with the participation of Russian and South Ossetian media.
