In the capital of South Ossetia, at 23:35 sharp- the time when five years ago the Georgian troops launched a massive rocket and artillery bombardment of Tskhinval,- from the bell tower of the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin rang the alarm bell in memory of the innocent victims of aggression and started the action "Living Light of Memory". Participants of the action lit candles in memory of the war dead- defenders of the Republic and the civilians.

South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov does not exclude further military provocations from the Georgian side, declared the Head of State at today`s press conference in Tskhinval.
According to him, Georgia continues to build up its military capability and strengthens its armed forces.

The international community should recognize the genocide of the Ossetian people, otherwise the repetition of the scenario in August 2008 is not excluded, said South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov at the briefing in Tskhinval.

On the night of August 7, 2008, began a steady bombardment of the populated areas of South Ossetia. At midnight a village Dmenis was fired from the Georgian-controlled village of Eredvi, Sarabuk, Satikar, and the southern outskirts of Tskhinval.

Overestimating the political support of the United States and having underestimated the moral obligations assumed by Russia, Tbilisi launched a war of aggression against South Ossetia, resulted in the predictable defeat of the Georgian military machine and the final loss of the two former Georgian autonomies.

In South Ossetia will be held commemorative events dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the 2008 war.

On the night of August 3, Georgia started to draw up forces to the border of South Ossetia, preparing for the assault. From the military base in Gori began moving up the artillery battalion – the part of the fourth mechanized infantry brigade of the Defence Ministry of Georgia.

The South Ossetian authorities are not going to stop the activities of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the territory of the Republic, said the Security Council Secretary Anatoly Pliev RSO at the today`s press conference in Tskhinval.
According to him, some of the media misinterpreted the words of President Leonid Tibilov about the ICRC activities in South Ossetia.
