The Acting Speaker of the RSO Parliament Zurab Kokoev received a delegation of the Federation Council of Russia. The delegation has included Viktor Ozerov - Chairman of the RF Committee on Defense and Security Federation Council, Elias Bechelov - Member of the Federation Council of Russia, Konstantin Kopaev - Advisor to the Office of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, Rashid Fayzukhanov - Advisor to the Office of International Relations of the Federation Council.
As reported to IA "Res" by the press service of the Parliament of South Ossetia, it was not the first visit of Viktor Ozerov to South Ossetia, and he has something to compare with in terms of reconstruction.
"They noted positive dynamics in this matter. It was noted that representatives of the Federation Council had had time to watch the debates of the presidential candidates; they also visited the CEC headquarters of the candidates. They have formed the opinion that the interest of the population in the election is high, no any claims have been raised and the elections must be held with complying all the rules,"- was said at the press service. In turn, Zurab Kokoev thanked the guests for their participation in the elections. He noted that the Federation Council was always devoting much attention to the problems of South Ossetia. This considerable role belongs to the Chairman of the Upper Chamber of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matvienko. It was noted that she had done much to promote the restoration of the ruined economy when she had been a mayor of St. Petersburg. The hosts and guests exchanged gifts.
Today Zurab Kokoev has also received a delegation from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, the members of which arrived in South Ossetia to participate in the election of the President of South Ossetia as observers. The delegation has included Yuri Hayrapetyan – the NKR Ombudsman, George Jhangiryan - Deputy-Head of the Government of the NKR and Simon Afiyan - Chief of the Office of the NKR Foreign Ministry, a member of the NKR CEC. During the talks the sides exchanged views on the development of intergovernmental relations, statehood of the young republics; the common problems have also been discussed. The two sides exchanged gifts.
Both meetings were attended by deputies of the Parliament of South Ossetia Gennady Kokoev and Elina Dzhikaeva.
