The Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is implementing a project on water supply of the villages of South Ossetia.
As reported to IA "Res" by the assistant of the head of the ICRC office in Tskhinval Wanda Bolotaeva, currently the ICRC Department of Water Supply is constructing the water-supply system in the village of Satikar (Tskhinval district) and Mugut (Znaur district).
"As you know, the ICRC is working in several directions. Now we want tolay on water supply in those areas that were most severely affected during the armed conflict. Currently the work is being carried out in the villages of Satikar and Mugut. In addition, we plan to provide with water the population of the village of Turmaneul, "- said Bolotaeva.
She has stressed that within the frames of the activities of this department the villages Bars, Eltura and Vashlovan were supplied with water pipes.
"We can assist in laying pipes and implementation of projects in those villages which consist of more than 40-50 homesteads," - said Bolotaeva.
Bolotaeva noted that all activities of the ICRC were carried out in coordination with local authorities.
"The ICRC staff has been communicating with the district administrations and on the basis of mutual dialog, taking into account the wishes and needs of the population, the ICRC has been implementing its projects," - added the ICRCspokesman.
In turn, the ICRC Water andHousing Conditions Department employee Arbulishvili Georgy added that the length of the pipe line in Satikar would be eight kilometers.
"The work on the water supply of the village of Satikar began in June and will be completed by October of this year. The pipes and water supply network within the village will be laid, water-supply tanks will be set up, "- said Arbulishvili.
The ICRC spokesman has noted that the length of the watersupply system in the village of Mugut will be for seven km.
He has added that the ICRC is planning to implement several more water supply projects in the villages of South Ossetia.
