A friendly football match between the South Ossetia national team and the Serbian team from Kosovo has started at the Republican Stadium, named after Guram Tskhovrebov, in Tskhinval.
The game was scheduled for August 7 – on the eve of the mourning events in the Republic timed to the fourth anniversary of the Georgian aggression against the people of South Ossetia. However, due to the objective reasons the match was postponed to August 14.
The opponent of the South-Ossetian national team is a team- the winner of the annually held mini-football tournament in Serbia in memory of the 17-year-old Serb Dmitry Popovich killed by the Albanian gunmen.
According to the initiator of the sporting event - the Chairman of the Union of Russian and Serbian peoples, honorary member of the Serbian-Russian friendship Vitaly Ilyushkin, the match is being held within the frames of the project, which was developed and is being implemented by himself. The project also provides a visit of the Serbian athletes from Kosovo to Russia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
"The project mission is -to strengthen friendly relations and to establish fruitful cooperation in the field of sports and tourism between the youth of Russia, Serbia and Abkhazia, as well as promoting the revival of Child and Youth Movement for Peace"-said Ilyushkin in his interview to IA "Res".
