During the first bout he won a landslide victory on points with a score of 8-0 over the representative of the Polish team Alexander Voshtachni. He then prevailed with a score of 8-2 over the Ukrainian athlete Bogdan Hruschai".
According to Kochiev, in a fight for reaching the finals Tasoev won a clear victory over the American athlete Michel Swig.
