South Ossetia was visited by the non-profit organizations of Italy - a representative of the Association "Abkhazia - Italy," Giorgio Lorenzi, President of the Association «Alfabeto» Mauro Mosconi, as well as the Italian university professor Mauro Murgia.
Today in Tskhinval, they have met with representatives of the media and talked about the purpose of their visit.
"Our group has been more than two years working with the Republic of Abkhazia, cooperating in the economic and political spheres. We have done a lot for them, not only in Italy but also in other countries where we have friends. Two weeks ago, we met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia David Sanakoev, who invited us here to see what we can do your country to be learned more in other world "- said Giorgio Lorenzi.
According to him, they like South Ossetia; here you can attract investment in the economy, agriculture, tourism, hotel business.
"We are engaged in economic, political and cultural ties. Two years ago, no one in Italy was aware of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. For Abkhazia we organized a photo exhibition and other events, and every day in Italy there are more friends from South Ossetia and Abkhazia ", - he said.
Mauro Murgia noted that no one outside of Abkhazia and South Ossetia had very little knowledge about these countries.
"There is only one piece of information - from Georgia. But when the people living in the world, have the real information of what is happening, you will have more friends. Therefore, the first problem is the access to the real information. Politics - it's another thing in it Georgia has a very large lobby. But South Ossetia needs more work, and the result is bound to be, "- said Mauro Murgia.
In South Ossetia, the representatives of Italy have already met with Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and plan to meet with the mayor of Tskhinval.
"We have some of the initiatives and proposals on cooperation. We can also help your students that want, for example, to study in Italy. We also plan to open a Web page where we will post the information about our friends - Abkhazia and South Ossetia ", - said Giorgio Lorenzi.
It was also raised a question of the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Giorgio Lorenzi has said that to the question of the leadership of the Italian Foreign Ministry on why Italy does not recognize South Ossetia, it was answered "because the European Union does not want it."
"However, we must work. We are ready to assist you in matters of recognition of sovereignty. South Ossetia should know that it has friends in Italy, "- said Mauro Morjia.
