A citizen of South Ossetia Marik Dudaev, abducted in March 2004 from his native village Artsev (Tskhinval district of South Ossetia) by the Georgian special services, has been released from the Georgian prison.
As IA "Res" was informed at the press service of the President and the government of South Ossetia, "Marik Dudaev was released last night and is now with his family in South Ossetia."
In January 2013, at the meeting with Co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia, South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov paid special attention to the cases of Marik Dudaev and three citizens of South Ossetia who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in Georgia.
In turn, the co-chairs raised this issue at a meeting with the Attorney General of Georgia Archil Kbilashvili and other representatives of the Georgian authorities. The fate of the South Ossetian citizens imprisoned in Georgia on some trumped-up charges is regularly placed on the agenda of the meetings in the format of MPRI.
Marik Dudaev was abducted in March 2004 from his native village Artsev by the Georgian special services. During the abduction he was seriously wounded, but throughout the imprisonment he was not provided the necessary medical care. The trial was held with gross violations, he was subjected to physical and psychological pressure. Dudaev was sentenced on some trumped-up charges to 23 years imprisonment.
