In accordance with the decrees of the President of South Ossetia on the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic conducts systematic work to establish relations with these republics, said at a round table in Tskhinval Foreign Minister of South Ossetia David Sanakoev.
According to him, the agency approaches to these issues with great responsibility, given the difficult situation in the DPR and the LPR, as well as the ongoing hostilities there.
"We are closely monitoring the situation in the republics, recognized by us, following the political processes there, building a relationship with them as far as we can. We have firsthand knowledge that it is very difficult to build plans in a war. Donetsk and Luhansk definitely need our help now, and we will be supporting them as far as we can, "- said David Sanakoev.
He has stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to work in the international arena, establishing contacts with many countries and international organizations.
"We are often criticized for the fact that we do not provide information on our activities, in particular, on the recognition of the Republic. But we must take into account the specific situation in which we have to work. As soon as it becomes known our contacts with a particular state, the Georgian Foreign Ministry immediately intensifies its activities in these regions that create a lot of problems and obstacles for us. Many processes are suspended or completely frozen. Therefore, we try to apply the methods that will help us to achieve results, "- said the minister having assured that in spite of all obstacles, this work will continue.
David Sanakoev has added that the Ministry continues to issue South Ossetian passports, to date, have already been issued more than two hundred documents.
"First of all, they are issued to our students studying in Russian universities. They faced the problem of migration services, as an intergovernmental agreement on visa-free travel stipulates that a citizen of South Ossetia may stay on the territory of Russia without a visa only for 90 days,"- said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
He has noted that the work is being done in other areas, developing contacts with Abkhazia and Transnistria.
"Our representatives work in many countries, our activities are carried out not only in the political but also in cultural sphere," - said Sanakoev.
