Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law "On ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on the order of pension provision for military personnel and their families".
The law was passed by the State Duma on March 20 and approved by the Federation Council on March 25. The Agreement was signed in Moscow in January, 2014. It establishes a legal framework for cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia in the areas of pension provision for military personnel and their families in moving of this category of citizens for permanent residence from one state-the party to the Agreement, to another state that is the party to the Agreement.
Under the Agreement, the pension provision for this category of persons will be carried out on the terms, norms and procedures established by the legislation of the state where they reside. If a pensioner changes his residence he will be entitled to receive pension in accordance with the legislation of the state in the chosen place of residence.
