Orthodox Christians of South Ossetia celebrated one of the main holidays - Holy Christ's Sunday. Easter services were held in Tskhinval in the new church of the Most Holy Trinity of the Russian Orthodox Church and in the Temple of the Most Holy Mother of God.
Thousands of believers gathered at the festive divine services in temples. By the beginning of the Easter service, the Holy Fire was brought to the Temple of the Most Holy Trinity. The fire from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem was delivered by a special flight. The representative of South Ossetia - the head of the State Guard Atsamaz Bibilov, as in previous years, met the delegation at the Beslan airport and from there delivered the fire to all the churches of the Republic.
At midnight, priests and parishioners of the temples with candles went through a скщыы procession around the temple.
Cross procession symbolizes the procession of myrrh-bearing women who go to the tomb to mourn the Savior’s body. After that, the Orthodox stop in front of the closed doors of the church, just like before entering the tomb of the Lord.
The leadership of the Republic led by President Anatoly Bibilov also attended the Easter service in the Temple of the Most Holy Trinity.
In his congratulatory speech, the President has noted that Easter is the main, one of the most revered holidays of the has Orthodox Christians.
“Congratulations to all Orthodox Christians on the bright holiday - Easter - Christ’s Resurrection. Easter turns us to high spiritual and moral values, filling our hearts with joy, hope and compassion, encourages us to perform good, godly deeds. The most important thing is to believe, in faith, our strength. Strength and patience,” the head of state wished.
Together with parishioners, he took part in the cross procession.
The priest of the Temple of the Most Holy Trinity, Father Sergy (Kokoev), noted the importance of the Easter holiday. “This holiday is established in honor of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and is honored from ancient times. On this day, the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion for the sins of all mankind is remembered,” the priest emphasized.
The dean of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Father Jacob, addressing the congregation, once again stressed that this is the oldest and most important Christian holiday.
“Jesus Christ gave life for us, for people, for us to live. He is our savior. No any Christian should be indifferent to this holiday. Pray with us and honor the name of our God,” he said.
