Geneva discussions on Transcaucasia remain the only dialogue platform between Sukhum, Tbilisi and Tskhinval
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko and Presidential Plenipotentiary of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement, Murat Dzhioyev, discussed on Friday the preparations for the next round of Geneva discussions on stability and security in Transcaucasia, TASS reports citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The main topic of the conversation was the preparation for the next round of Geneva international discussions on stability and security in Transcaucasia, " the diplomatic agency nformed.
The Geneva discussions on Transcaucasia remain the only dialogue platform between Sukhum, Tbilisi and Tskhinval, the basis of which is the agreements of the Presidents of the Russian Federation and France reached after the act of aggression of Georgia in August 2008. Representatives of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russia, the USA and South Ossetia, as well as observers from the United Nations, the European Union and the OSCE are taking part in the negotiations in Geneva. The main goal of the discussions is to achieve a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between Abkhazia and Georgia, South Ossetia and Georgia.
