KGB told details about the detention of the Georgian doctor
The State Security Committee of South Ossetia has noted an increase in the number of crimes related to violation of the state border of the Republic with Georgia since the beginning of November, the committee’s press service reports.
As previously reported, since the beginning of the month, the KGB Border Service detained 40 violators, to whom the court determined various penalties.
"On November 9, Gaprindashvili Vazha Dzhondoevich, a Georgian citizen, born on 26.07.1961, a native and resident of Tbilisi, was detained on the section of the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia in the vicinity of the village of Orchosan of Leningor district. According to the available data, he is captain of the military medical reserve services of the Armed Forces of Georgia, who took an active part in the events of August 2008 as a military physician, "the KGB said.
During the investigations by the KGB Border Service, it was established that on the morning of November 9, Gaprindashvili arrived from Tbilisi to the Georgian village of Sakorintlo, bordering South Ossetia, after which he illegally crossed the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia.
"Since V. Gaprindashvili’s actions contained signs of a crime under Part 1 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code, criminal case No. 991906 was instituted against him. On November 15, the Leningor District Court elected a preventive measure in the form of a conclusion of V. Gaprindashvili. for a period of 2 (two) months. In accordance with the legislation in force on the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia, V. Gaprindashvili is provided with a state lawyer, "the statement said.
The KGB believes that the frequent cases of violation of the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia are associated with the Tbilisi regime setting up an illegal post of the Georgian police in the area of the village of Uista (Tsnelis) and are elements of one hybrid operation aimed at eliminating the concept of a “state border” of the Republic of South Ossetia and revisionof the main political results of August 2008.
For this reason, the response of South Ossetia to the provocative actions of V. Gaprindashvili and his curators will lie exclusively in the legal plane, aimed at preventing relapse and escalation of tension, as well as protecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of South Ossetia.
