The II International Conference "The Role of Interaction of Factions of Political Parties and Blocs in Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation of the CIS Countries" was held in the State Duma. A delegation of the South Ossetian Parliament led by Speaker Alan Tadtaev took part in its work. The Speaker of the Parliament told in detail about the work of the conference as a whole and about the meetings of parliamentarians held in the framework of the Forum, the press service reported.
“All CIS countries, the countries of the former USSR, except the Baltic states and Georgia, participated in the conference, and it is very gratifying that our republic was represented there. This is another platform where we have the opportunity to expand our contacts and have the opportunity to work with parliamentarians of the CIS countries. After the conference, we had personal contacts with the delegates of Armenia and Kazakhstan. I can say with confidence that we will not stop there, and will continue to build contacts with parliamentarians of the CIS countries,” said Tadtaev.
He has also noted that after the official work of the conference, the delegation of South Ossetia held separate meetings with the leaders of the factions represented in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
In the State Duma, we also held meetings with the chairmen of the factions, which are represented in the legislative body of the Russian Federation. The first meeting was held with the leader of the Communist Party faction Gennady Zyuganov. Our delegation also had a meeting with members of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots. The Chairman of the Committee Leonid Kalashnikov received us very warmly, I want to add that it is in this Committee that the question of recognition of the genocide of the Ossetian people of 1920 is considered. The question that was raised at this meeting dealt primarily with the genocide of our people. We saw full understanding of our Russian colleagues. You know that in the State Duma a commission was established to recognize the genocide of the Ossetian people of the 20th year, which is headed by Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots,” the Speaker noted.
Alan Tadtaev has also added that the Commission of the State Duma of the Russian Federation will arrive in Tskhinval approximately on December 15 to familiarize itself with archival documents on the Ossetian genocide.
“The South Ossetian part of this Commission will be created, and at a meeting with Russian colleagues in Tskhinval, documents and information on the Ossetian genocide that we have will be transferred. Russian colleagues will also bring archival materials on this issue, in addition, parliamentarians instructed prominent scientists, historians to collect documentation on the Ossetian genocide. In a word, I think that they will work fruitfully,” the Speaker emphasized.
At this meeting, was also raised the issue of temporary importation, which is currently relevant in the Republic.
“The Parliament of South Ossetia is likely to prepare an appeal to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in order to resolve the issue of temporary importation of cars. Our citizens face certain problems in obtaining temporary importation, and I think the issue will be resolved positively. The third issue that we discussed there was the book “Ossetians in the service of the Third Reich”, recently published by the Ingush provocateurs and falsifiers of history. I want to note that in fact in history this has never happened and we will not allow anyone to rewrite history. And we have agreed that on this fact there will also be an appeal from the parliament to the State Duma of the Russian Federation,” Tadtaev concluded.
