South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov sent a telegram with condolences to the family and friends of the great Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, People's Artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoy in connection with his death, the press service of the head of state reports.
The telegram, in particular, says:
“With a feeling of deep sorrow, I received the news of the death of the great Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Labor of Russia, co-chairman of the Central Headquarters of the Immortal Regiment of Russia, a wonderful, unusually charming person Vasily Semyonovich Lanovoy, the most recognizable artist in Russia, on whose films entire generations have grown.
Vasily Semyonovich was a great friend of the Ossetian people, a man of a firm civic position and a patriot of his Motherland. In 2008, Vasily Semenovich, almost immediately after the end of hostilities, arrived in Tskhinval to support the people of South Ossetia. He was following with great sympathy the just struggle of the South Ossetian people for freedom from Georgia, he against attempts to break up the historical ties between South Ossetia and the Great Russia.
Vasily Lanovoy's death is a huge, irreplaceable loss. We are mourning together with all of Russia and express our deep condolences to the family, friends and all fans of Vasily Lanovoy's talent".
