In 2021, the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry carried out the work to prevent outbreaks in South Ossetia of especially dangerous infectious diseases common to humans and animals, said Alan Margiev, Minister of Agriculture.
According to him, for this purpose, the Ministry annually purchases vaccines and supplies, which are distributed among the veterinary services of the regions of the Republic for the effective implementation of the plan of anti-epizootic measures.
“As part of the implementation of this plan, the veterinary services carried out the following anti-epizootic and preventive measures: vaccination against anthrax in cattle and small ruminants in the amount of 10,398 heads, vaccination against FMD in small and large ruminants - 9,975 heads, vaccination against rabies - 4,738 heads, vaccination against rabies of dogs and cats - 2,279 heads, vaccination against infectious nodular dermatitis - 1,247 heads, etc.
Alan Margiev has noted that the Ministry intends to continue to take all necessary measures to prevent outbreaks in the territory of South Ossetia of especially dangerous infectious diseases common to humans and animals.
