A solemn reception was held in Tskhinval, dedicated to the Day of National Unity, which is celebrated in the Russian Federation on November 4. The festive evening was attended by the leadership of the Republic headed by President Alan Gagloev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, Russian compatriots and guests of the Republic.
The reception was organized by the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of South Ossetia.
The Ambassador of Russia has noted that for centuries, many generations of Russians were defending the independence of the Motherland, fighting against external and internal enemies.
“Our large country has a deep history. This difficult path has been overcome thanks to the unity of the people, our large, vast Motherland and the wisdom of the leaders. Our task is to remember all of them by name, because they are really extraordinary people. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be standing here today. Our task is to instill this memory in the youth. If there is no memory, there will be no our vast Motherland. I am sure that thanks to your selfless work, perseverance, our great Motherland will be prospering and live together with South Ossetia,” the Ambassador said and wished everyone good health and well-being.
President Alan Gagloev also made a welcoming speech, congratulating the entire multinational people of the Russian Federation on the national holiday.
“History shows that if people are united, then it is possible to adequately accept the challenges of the time, to overcome difficulties. Today, the Russian Federation is acting as the main guarantor of the security of the newly joined territories - the Luhansk and the Donetsk People's Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Side by side with the Russian servicemen, the peoples of Donbass are protected by warriors from South Ossetia, freeing them from fascism. I am sure that the people of Russia and all Russian citizens living outside the country will always be united in achieving noble goals. We are proud to be citizens of Russia,” the head of state said and wished everyone health, peace and the achievement of all goals for the benefit of our common Motherland - Russia.
The head of the Russian House in Tskhinval, Sergei Skvortsov, and the Venezuelan Ambassador to the Republic, Jesús Rafael Salazar Velasquez, also made congratulatory speeches.
