"Russian-South Ossetian relations have stood the test of time and are based on the principles of alliance and integration. The political dialogue between the executive and legislative branches, cooperation in the defense and foreign policy spheres, trade, economic and interregional ties, cultural and humanitarian exchange are developing dynamically," he said. .
Novak has noted that the Republic of South Ossetia is a strategic partner of Russia, ensuring the security and socio-economic stability of which "meets the long-term interests of the Russian Federation, including in the context of new geopolitical realities." "Today we are witnessing the formation of a new multipolar and more equitable world order - this opens up opportunities in terms of developing national industries, trade and logistics chains," the Deputy Prime Minister explained.
Novak has clarified that the Russian party is ready to continue to fulfill its obligations, including under the Treaty of Alliance and Integration between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia, concluded in March 2015. “We are counting on a corresponding return from our South Ossetian partners. First of all, we are talking about the effective implementation of investment programs, activities of the state program for socio-economic development of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2022-2025, integration processes in the customs and tax spheres, as well as strengthening control over the expenditure of Russian financial assistance," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Earlier it has been reported that the amount of funding for the new Russian investment program to promote the socio-economic development of South Ossetia for 2023-2025 is more than 3.5 billion rubles, for which it is planned to build housing, road and educational infrastructure in the Republic. Control over the implementation of the program is entrusted to the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for cross-border cooperation and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
The XXI meeting of the Russian-South Ossetian Intergovernmental Commission was held in Moscow on Wednesday. The last meeting in this format was held on April 19, 2019 in Tskhinval.
