Every person is obliged to honor and remember the great Victory Day, noted the head of the diplomatic department Marat Kulakhmetov at the solemn reception of the Russian Embassy in South Ossetia on the occasion of the Victory Day.
On Tuesday, the traditional solemn reception of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic in honor of the Victory Day was held in the capital.
“78 years separate us from that May day in 1945, when the whole world learned about the signing of the act of surrender by Germany. All these years we remember the legendary generation of those people who were courageously fighting on the fields of the Second World War, forging the Victory by military labor,” Kulakhmetov said.
He has noted with regret that not everyone survived to this day, someone perished on the battlefields, and someone in the rear.
"It was a courageous generation. We owe it to these people, our grandfathers, fathers, because they did everything to make us live. We must carry this memory through the centuries, because without memory we will have no future," the ambassador added.
According to him, the procession of the "Immortal Regiment" in Tskhinval is an example of respect for the history of the Great Patriotic War.
“This is a vivid example of the fact that the Republic remembers and honors the perished. I want to congratulate everyone on our great common holiday - Victory Day. Health, prosperity, peaceful sky to South Ossetia. Happy Victory Day!” Kulakhmetov said.
President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has noted that today is the holiday of the Great Victory of the Soviet people over fascism.
“We held a parade together; the procession of the Immortal Regiment took place. We are obliged to preserve the history and the feats that our grandfathers and great-grandfathers left us. Today is truly a holiday with tears in our eyes,” the head of state said.
Gagloev has stressed that the entire post-Soviet space, with the exception of some republics, celebrates the Great Victory Day.
“I want to sincerely congratulate everyone on today's holiday and wish you well, prosperity and a peaceful sky over your heads. Today we see that fascism is rearing its head again. Worthy sons of the entire multinational people of Russia and the republics, who consider themselves a part of the Russian world, like brothers, are defending our common future,” the President said.
Gagloev has added that it is necessary to set a worthy example for the younger generation, whom the future of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation will be handed over.
Other officials of the Republic also gathered at the reception - ex-President Leonid Tibilov, Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, Speaker of Parliament Alan Alborov, head of the Presidential Executive Office Alan Dzhioev, representatives of the Embassy, Russian compatriots, etc.
