The strengthening of Washington's hostile policy against the Russian Federation leads to the need to create Russian military bases abroad, Russia is obliged to strengthen its presence in the CSTO countries, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), Viktor Bondarev, head of the Defense Committee of the Federation Council, believes.
"The strengthening of the hostile US policy against Russia leads to the need to create Russian military bases abroad. During the Cold War, the USSR had an extensive network of military bases in Eastern Europe, as well as in Southeast Asia (Vietnam) and Cuba," the senator has written in his telegram channel.
According to him, in the current situation, "Russia is obliged to strengthen its presence in the CSTO states, as well as in the republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia recognized by the Russian Federation, as well as in the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic."
He has also noted that ties with African states are growing stronger. Thus, the Central African Republic (CAR), on whose territory a Russian peacekeeping contingent was present from 2008 to 2010, through its ambassador, announced its desire to deploy a Russian military base on its territory.
