On Friday, the student club "Apollo" at the South Ossetian State University went hiking along the route Erman – the Kel plateau of the Dzau district. The chairman of the club, Olesya Kadzhayeva, told IA“Res about this.
“The main purpose of the hike is to visit the Mady Tsassyg (Mother's Tear) Lake, located on the Kel Plateau and named in memory of the children perished in the Beslan terrorist attack,” Kadzhayeva said.
According to her in addition to students and veterans of the club, former hostages of the Beslan School are taking part in the campaign.
In 2019, a nameless lake on the Kel plateau of South Ossetia was given the name "Mady tsassyg" in memory of the victims of the Beslan tragedy.
The idea to give the lake a name was born back in 2005, when the mothers of Beslan came to the Republic for rehabilitation.
On September 1, 2004, more than 30 terrorists seized School No. 1 in Beslan during a festive line. For three days, 1,128 hostages were held in the school's gymnasium without food and water. On September 3, explosions were heard at the school, the hostages began to run out of the windows and a hole in the wall of the gymnasium. The victims of the tragedy have become 334 people, of which 186 were children.
