The Georgian citizens detained in South Ossetia for border violations were handed over to the Georgian side after serving their sentences, the KGB press service reports.

"On January 2, 2023, for violating the regime of the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia, the South Ossetian border authorities detained Georgian citizens Gugutishvili Sergo Goderdzievich, born in 1970, a resident of the village of Gugutiantkari, Gori municipality, and Kakhabrishvili Tamaz Revazovich, born in 1961, a resident of the city of Tbilisi, It should be noted that these citizens of Georgia intentionally crossed the South Ossetian-Georgian border in the vicinity of the settlement of Kulbit, Tskhinval district," the report says.

On July 18, the Tskhinval District Court found the detainees guilty of illegally crossing the state border of the republic and sentenced them to six months of imprisonment in a correctional colony of general regime.

On July 28, due to the expiration of the term of punishment, the violators were released and handed over to the Georgian side.
