The Pridnestrovian State University hosted the opening of the international conference "War and Peace on the Dniester. Aggression and Peacemaking," the official representation of the RSO in Transnistria reports.
At the invitation of the organizing committee, the head of the official representation of South Ossetia in Transnistria, Vitaly Yankovsky, took part in the conference.
Among the conference participants have been the first President of Transnistria I. Smirnov, {lenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in Transnistria Alexander Vataman, co-Chairman of the JCC from Transnistria O. Belyakov, deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR A. Safonov, military personnel of the peacekeeping forces of Transnistria, as well as the leadership and students of the Pridnestrovian State University.
The head of the official representative office of the PMR in the Russian Federation, Leonid Manakov, took part in the conference via video link.
The conference was opened by rector of the Pridnestrovian State University Vladislav Sokolov.
In addresses and greetings on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie Vitaly Ignatiev, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Galina Antyufeyeva, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin, the words were spoken about the importance of the stated theme of the conference, which this year is directly linked to the 30th anniversary of the work in Moscow of the International Tribunal “On Violations of International Humanitarian Law during the Armed Conflict in Transnistria.”
During the conference, the first president of Pridnestrovie Igor Smirnov and senior lecturer of the Department of Public Administration of ISU and SGI Ivan Voit made presentations. After the completion of the main part of the conference, in the foyer of the cultural and educational Center at the stand of the thematic book exhibition “Save peace - Save the future!”, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in Pridnestrovie Alexander Vataman and the head of the official representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie Vitaly Yankovsky answered the questions from the students of the Pridnestrovian State University.
