Eduard Kokoity and Roman Panov visited Kvaisa

On 1 October, the President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity and Deputy Minister for Economic Development of the RF, the Chair of the Inter-Agency Commission for Rehabilitation Projects in South Ossetia Roman Panov visited Kvaisa badly affected by an earthquake on 7-8 September. During their visit, Eduard Kokoity and Roman PAnov were accompanies by the first Deputy Prime-minister Alexander Zelig, Interior Minister Valery Valiev, Emercom Minister Anatoly Bibilov, acting Minister of Health and Social Welfare Nugzar Gabaraev, Chair of the State Committee for Implementation of Rehabilitation Projects Zurab Kabisov and Chair of the Committee for State Control and economic security Batradz Takazov.

During the visit, the officials considered the plan for a full-scale construction in Kvaisa presented by the First Deputy Prime-Minister Alexander Zelig. The delegation had also identified locations for the construction of new private houses and public buildings.
As stated by the President Kokoity at the gathering held after the visit to Kvaisa, the rehabilitation of regions affected by the earthquake is one the top priorities for the government of South Ossetia. “Despite the fact that we can hardly resist natural disasters, we should think about the safety of the people living here”, he said. The first deputy Prime-Minister of South Ossetia Alexander Zelig was tasked by the President to establish a special commission which should conduct assessment at all private housing in Kvaisa. “Based on the results of the assessment, most probably, the number of houses for construction will increase”, he said.
As underlined by the President, the houses in Kvaisa will be build up of wood logs. The area of each house will be 60-80 meters. All issues related to rehabilitation and demolition of destroyed houses should be addressed to the Chair of the State Committee for Rehabilitation Projects Zurab Kabisov. “Please, identify subcontracting organizations and start demolishing those destroyed. As of now, 50 wooden houses are to be assembled“, said the President.
