The Russian military bases are located in the territory of South Ossetia and Abkhazia on legal grounds, according to earlier signed interstate agreements. It has been declared the journalists in Tskhinval by the President of the RSO Eduard Kokoity in connection with the ratification of the agreement submitted to the Russian Federation State Duma by the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev on incorporated Russian military base in South Ossetia which was signed in Moscow on April, 7, 2010. «I consider symbolical that the document on ratification has been submitted by President Dmitry Medvedev today, on the third anniversary of the Georgian aggression.

The head of the state has underlined that being the main guarantor of peace in the Caucasus; Russia does everything to maintain peace. «Ratification of the agreement on incorporated Russian military bases in the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia will bring full clearness into a question of presence of the Russian military men in these republics and, I hope, will put an end to fabrications of the Georgian and the western politicians, calling the independent, recognized states the «occupied territories» and to dreams of the Georgian hawks of the military revenge», - has noted Kokoity. The President has once again confirmed readiness of South Ossetia to sign the document on force non-use with Georgia. «The war took place between Georgia - an aggressor - and South Ossetia. Russia fulfilled its peace-making duty, according to the international agreements, signed in Dagomys in 1992», - the President has underlined. He has also declared that the President of Georgia Michail Saakashvili should stand trial in the international court for his crimes against the people of South Ossetia. «Attorney General's of South Ossetia closely co-operates with the Attorney General's and with the Investigatory committee of Russia on gathering of the facts of genocide against the small people of South Ossetia. Saakashvili – is the international criminal and it is not only the opinion of Russian and the South-Ossetian leadership. He has commanded to open fire on peaceful settlements of South Ossetia.
