The Central Election Committee registered the South Ossetian leader of the Communist Party Stanislav Kochiev as a candidate for president of South Ossetia. As IA "Res" was informed by the CEC of South Ossetia, "at the today`s meeting, the CEC made a decision to register Stanislav Kochiev as the fourth candidate for the presidency of the Republic". At the meeting it has also been made a decision to refuse the registration of the chief bailiff Sergei Bitiev and the State Security Service officer Sergei Pliev as the presidential candidates.
Earlier the Central Election Committee of South Ossetia registered ex-Chairman of the KGB of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, Human Rights Ombudsman under the President of South Ossetia David Sanakoev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia Dmitry Medoev as the candidates for the presidency.
Re-election of the President of South Ossetia is scheduled for March 25. The results of the elections, held November, 27, 2011, were recognized invalid by the Supreme Court of South Ossetia because of the committed violations.
