The current geopolitical situation, issues of cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia in the economic sphere and development of trade and industrial cooperation were discussed during the meeting of the South Ossetian parliamentarians with the first Deputy Head of the United Russia faction Vyacheslav Makarov.
The meeting was held at the State Duma in Moscow. A delegation of the South Ossetian Parliament, headed by Chairman Alan Margiev, arrived in the Russian capital to participate in the international conference "The Role of Interaction between Factions of Political Parties and Blocs in Inter-parliamentary Cooperation of the CIS Countries".
Speaking about strengthening further cooperation, the parties during the meeting noted the great role of inter-parliamentary ties, and also drew attention to the importance of developing new formats of cooperation.
"Parliamentary diplomacy lays the foundation for long-term interstate relations and helps to build strong economic, political and trade ties," Vyacheslav Makarov has emphasized.
For the South Ossetian part the meeting was attended by First Deputy Speaker of the RSO Parliament, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Legality and Local Self-Government Zita Besaeva, Vice Speaker of the RSO Parliament, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Science Taimuraz Tadtaev, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary Relations Zaza Driaev, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare Aleksandr Pliev and Member of Parliament of South Ossetia Atsamaz Bibilov.
The meeting was also attended by the Russian State Duma deputies Andrei Krasov and Nikolai Valuev.
