President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Leonid Tibilov has received today athletes of the sport and martial arts national team. As IA "Res" has been informed at the press service of the President and the government of South Ossetia, the meeting was attended by the athletes who had won medals in the World Cup hand-to-hand fighting in New Delhi (India), as well as members of the team of the Armed Forces of South Ossetia, who had taken part in the VIII army hand-to-hand fighting International Tournament in memory of the hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Timakov and members of the World Championship in combat Sambo in Moscow.
Leonid Tibilov has awarded certificates of honourto the RSO athletes, who suitably represented the Republic of South Ossetia at the international level; he thanked them for the high sporting achievements and contribution to the development of national sport.
"On behalf of South Ossetia and on behalf of myself thank you for the successful performance in the international competitions. I wish you only victories in futureю. You should always suitably represent our country and the leadership of the Republic will always support you, "- said the president.
The meeting proceeded in an informal setting. The athletes shared their experiences with the president, discussed the development of the Ossetian sport. The national team of the South Ossetian athletes won two gold medals in the World Cup competition in hand-to-hand fighting, held in New Delhi, and team members of the armed forces of South Ossetia, who participated in the VIII international tournament in combat fighting in memory of the hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Timakov, won silver medals.
