The question of releasing the citizens of South Ossetia, which are contained in the Georgian prisons, has moved "off the dead-point."
This has been announced today by the head of the South Ossetian delegation, Deputy Presidential Envoy to the RSO for post-conflict resolution Khokh Gagloity after the meeting of the MPRI participants, which was held in the border village of Ergneti.
"The Georgian side drew up the lists of our citizens who were in the Georgian jails, which may be released. We will try to obtain maximum efficiency in the issue of our fellow citizens who have been sent to imprisonment in the Republic of Georgia - underlined Gagloity. – The specific detailed work on this issue is already in progress, and I hope that soon we `ll be able to talk about certain results; in any case, I would like to note that progress in this direction is substantial."
He has noted that the recent extradition of three Georgian citizens to the Georgian authorities was carried out within the framework of amnesty of the prisoners contained in the territory of South Ossetia.
"By this action South Ossetia has shown that everyone is equal before the law of the Republic of South Ossetia, regardless their ethnic origin, - said Gagloity. - Nevertheless, the Georgian participants appreciated highly the release of the prisoners, and I hope that this fact will be taking into consideration in releasing the citizens of South Ossetia, which are contained in prisons of the Republic of Georgia."
Deputy presidential envoy has added that at the meeting was also raised the issue of removing the police post in the village of Zardiantkari (Georgia) a few hundred meters closer to the state border of South Ossetia.
" Georgian side declared, that they had been maintaining security in this region, and they were ready to provide guarantees of security in the region - said Gagloity. - However, there was nothing new in this information, which did not differ from that one described by the Georgian side at the emergency meetings of MPRI on July1, 14. "
According to Gagloity, the Georgian side has all the possibilities to resolve the tense situation in the village of Zardiantkari, "namely, it must remove the police post back to its original place, thus restoring the previous relatively peaceful situation."
Gagloity has reported in conclusion that the question of the missing citizens of South Ossetia was also raised at the meeting.
"We designated the circumstances of their detention - what we knew about them. The Georgian side in the usual manner did not give any new information on this issue", - concluded Gagloity.
He added that the next meeting of the MPRI would be held in September.
