The delegation of the South Ossetian leadership, headed by President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov, has participated today in the mourning ceremonies, dedicated to the eighth anniversary of the Beslan tragedy.
As the press secretary of the head of the state Gana Yanovskaya reported to IA "Res", Leonid Tibilov and the accompanying officials laid wreaths on the monument "The Mourning Tree" at the memorial cemetery "City of Angels"- the burial place of victims of the terrorist attack.
The delegation members have also paid tribute to the fighters of the FSS special units and the Russian Emergencies Ministry rescuers, who died saving the lives of the hostages.
September 1, 2004 in the Beslan school №1 during the grand opening of the academic year, a group of terrorists took hostage more than 1100 people, mostly children, their parents and the school staff. For two and a half days the terrorists were holding the hostages in the school building, forbidding them physical needs. The attempt to liberate the hostages turned into the tragedy; 334 people were killed, including 186 children, and more than 800 people were injured.
