A ceremony of presenting the state decorations to the military personnel of the Defence Ministry and other security agencies of South Ossetia, as well as to the defenders of the Republic, injured or disabled while defending South Ossetia in 1989 – 2008, has been held in Tskhinval.
Addressing the audience, Leonid Tibilov has noted that the leadership of the RSO appreciates highly the activities of the Defense Ministry.
" We intend to improve the conditions of your work. Now we are working hard the Defense Ministry officials to be awarded of decent pensions, "- said the president.
He added that the government of the Russian Federation had been providing comprehensive assistance to South Ossetia, including in the field of security.
"You know that Russia's attention is directed to South Ossetia, it was both in the past, and at present," - said the president.
The Defense Ministry officials were decorated with medals "Defender of the Fatherland", "For Service to protect peace in South Ossetia," as well as given letters of commendation for excellence in combat training, hard work, displayed in fulfilling the military duty.
Defenders of the Republic, who became invalids, have also been decorated with medals "Defender of the Fatherland", "For Service to protect peace in South Ossetia" and "In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia."
Leonid Tibilov thanked the holders of the state awards for their selfless work for the good of South Ossetia.
At the end of the ceremony members of the "Foundation for supporting the 1989 – 2008 war invalids of South Ossetia" presented a felt cloak and a dagger to the head of state in accordance with the national Ossetian custom.
