Life –sentence South Ossetian prisoners in Georgia, participated in the hunger strike in the Gldani prison № 8 in Tbilisi on April15 – 25, have been visited by their relatives. As the news agency "Res" was informed by Lyudmila Usovich, a mother of one of the prisoners - Georgy Zasseev, the meeting had been organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross on April 30.
"My son`s state of health is becoming stabilized. He has still health problems, but after the hunger strike, he is gradually recovering himself," - said Usovich.
According to her, the administration of the Gldani prison № 8 also allowed to bring food for the prisoners.
"To this day, this has never happened. We were allowed to bring Ossetian pies, meat, eggs and other products. During the visit my son told me that the treatment of the prisoners was much better since the new authorities had come to power in Georgia," - said Usovich.
She has added that the visit of the prisoners' relatives aroused great interest among the Georgian media.
According to her, the Gldani prison was also visited by relatives of two more life –sentence citizens of South Ossetia - Georgy Valiev and Joseph Kochiev.
July 2005, Georgy Zasseev, Joseph Kochiev and Georgy Valiev were detained by the Georgian special services. At first, they were accused of drug-distribution, and later - of committing the terrorist act in the Georgian town of Gori (1 February 2005). On these obviously trumped-up charges they were sentenced to life imprisonment.
