Delegations from Russia and from the republics of the North Caucasus are arriving in South Ossetia on the eve of the fifth anniversary of Russia's recognition of independence of the Republic. South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has received the delegation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, headed by the deputy of the NKR Parliament Armen Sargsyan, arrived in the Republic to participate in the festivities on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of Russia's recognition of independence of South Ossetia.
The Head of State welcomed the guests and thanked them for coming on such an important day.
"This is very important when the friends are side by side. To someone it may be unpleasant, but in spite of that, we will follow the path of development. We have a common fate, "- said Tibilov.
He wished the Nagorno-Karabakh to achieve in the near future the recognition of its independence.
The President has also noted that the Republic is on the way for further rapprochement with Russia - a strategic partner of South Ossetia.
"Russia was the first country to recognize our independence, but before 2008 it had also been supporting South Ossetia. August 26 is the beginning of a new history of Ossetia ", - said Tibilov.
He has also expressed confidence that relations between South Ossetia and Nagorno Karabakh will actively be developing.
Armen Sargsyan thanked the President for the warm welcome, congratulating him on the fifth anniversary of the recognition of the independence and conveyed words of support from the political leadership of the NKR.
"I hope that when I come here next time, the Embassies of South Ossetia and Nagorno-Karabakh will function in Stepanakert and Tskhinval. Our friendship is centuries old, and I hope it will continue in future, "- said Sargsyan.
The guests also presented souvenirs to the president.
During the meeting, Leonid Tibilov presented the members of the delegation with the state award - the Order of Friendship - for contribution to the development of relations of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of South Ossetia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
