The myrrh-streaming icon of the Mother of God "Seven Arrows" was delivered today to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the capital of South Ossetia. The icon of the Mother of God "Seven Arrows" depicts the Blessed Virgin Mary, pierced by seven arrows: four on the left side and three on the right.
The priest Jacob Khetagurov held a divine liturgy in honor of the icon.
According to Sergey Fomin, who accompanies the wonderworking icon, "the icon is not antique, that is, it is the printing image pasted on cardboard. It differs from the hundreds of thousands of icons in fragrant oily drops on its surface, which the church calls chrism."
According to Fomin, for the first time the miracle myrrh-streaming icon manifested May 2, 1999, when Matrona was canonized as a saint of Moscow.
"The icon was brought to the Pokrov monastery, applied to the holy relics of the Blessed Matrona, and from that moment has started the shedding of holy ointment from the icon," - said Fomin.
He has noted that the icon of the Mother of God "Seven Arrows" was in Australia, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia , Germany and many other countries.
"The icon sheds not only holy ointment, but also bleeds - said Fomin. - The first drops of blood appeared when the nuclear submarine "Kursk" sank August 12, 2000 and during the events of hostage-taking in the "Nord – Ost," in Beslan."
Fomin has noted that the icon has an organic, protein basis.
"The icon is as if alive - said Fomin. - Mother of God hears all appeals of people. There were recorded various cases of cure by this icon, including cancer diseases. The Mother of God also helps the couples who for medical reasons cannot have children."
He has noted that in honor of the icon were built temples in places of imprisonment.
"In South Ossetia it is for the first time. After praying, everyone will get a consolation for their troubles. "
After the prayer the believers took part in a cross procession around the temple.
The icon will be in South Ossetia until October 31.
