South Ossetia and Abkhazia appealed to the authorities of Italy and San Marino to recognize their independence. As the news agency "Res" has been reported at the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, November 8 took place a working trip of the Foreign Minister David Sanakoev to Italy.
"During the visit, the Foreign Minister of South Ossetia held a series of meetings with political and public figures , which covered issues of mutual interest," - said the press service official.
During the visit to the capital of the Republic of Italy, Rome was also held a joint press conference of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia and Abkhazia David Sanakoev and Vyacheslav Chirikba; they stated that South Ossetia and Abkhazia had made official appeals to the governments of Italy and the Republic of San Marino to recognize their independence.
"The relevant letters were sent to the President of Italy Giorgio Napolitano and the Captains- Regents of San Marino early October, 2013," – said the Foreign Ministry spokesman.
He has added, that David Sanakoev stressed that South Ossetia and Abkhazia were on the path of international recognition, and this process was irreversible.
For his part, Chirikba has emphasized that, first of all, he expected the EU to recognize that Abkhazia and South Ossetia will never return to Georgia ", - was noted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia.
