Presidents of South Ossetia and Karachai- Cherkessia Rashid Temrezov and Leonid Tibilov have signed an agreement on trade-economic, scientific- technical and cultural cooperation. The signing took place within the framework of the 9th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on socio-economic cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia.
The Agreement provides for assistance in establishing direct links between the republics, the development of economic cooperation through the exchange of information, joint organization of fairs and exhibitions. The document also provides for mutual assistance in the implementation of joint investment projects aimed at reconstruction and modernization of enterprises, the creation of new industries. The parties intend to exchange scientific, technical, economic and legal information, take measures to create favorable conditions for the development and strengthening of cooperation in the field of tourism and sport. The Republics also intend to expand and deepen ties in the field of culture, literature and art.
A similar agreement was also signed by Leonid Tibilov and the head of North Ossetia Teimuraz Mamsurov. This document provides for the implementation of joint programs on issues of refugees and IDPs. The parties intend to create favorable conditions for the implementation of mutual transportation of passengers and goods, expand the use of transit-transport highways and roads across the two Republics.
