South Ossetia again proposed to Georgia mutual exchange of prisoners. The issue was discussed during today's meeting of the participants of the Mechanisms for preventing and responding to incidents (MPRI) held in the frontier village of Ergneti.
"Until now we have offered only to study this question, today we have already informed the Georgian side that we are ready to release all Georgian detainees, if the Georgian authorities release all the citizens of South Ossetia," - said after the meeting the head of the South Ossetian delegation, Deputy Presidential Envoy of the RSO for post-conflict settlement Khokh Gagloyty.
According to him, the Georgian side asked to provide the lists of all South Ossetian citizens kept in Georgian prisons. Gagloyty expressed hope for a productive solution of this issue.
The Deputy Envoy has added that the South Ossetian side called destructive and provocative "the line, which is conducted in the Georgian information space with respect to measures to establish defensive construction along the state border of the Republic."
"We informed the Georgian side that to discuss these issues in the Georgian media, giving them any accents before considering them in the MPRI format - is unproductive," - says Gagloyty, noting that MPRI is the format where the parties must examine the situation in detail, and "hasty and accented coverage of such kind of issues in the information space is provocative."
He offered to arrange for Georgian and foreign journalists a press tour of the border area of South Ossetia.
Today in Ergneti relatives of the missing citizens of South Ossetia met with representatives of law enforcement bodies of Georgia.
