December 17-18 in Geneva will be held the 26 round of discussions on security in Transcaucasia. A priority issue at the Geneva discussions for the South Ossetian side remains the signing of an agreement on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia. According to the RSO Presidential Envoy for post- settlement Murat Dzhioev, the main task of the 26 round of the Geneva discussions is still the issue to draft the legally binding agreements on non-use of force. "As an interim step, our delegation will insist to adopt a joint Declaration of the participants of the discussions on the commitment to the principle of the nonuse of force. This follows from the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreement, signed September 12, 2008,"- said the envoy.
At the same time South Ossetia will raise the question of the mutual release of prisoners from the prisons of Georgia and South Ossetia, as well as a question concerning the search for the missing citizens of the Republic.
"Moreover, at the last meeting of participants of the Mechanisms for preventing and responding to incidents the relatives of the missing persons again had the opportunity to testify on these matters. It will be also discussed a range of humanitarian issues," - said Dzhioev.
The Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia are held since October 2008 on the basis of agreements between the Presidents reached after the armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia in August 2008. They are equally attended by delegations of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russia, the U.S., South Ossetia, as well as the EU, UN and OSCE representatives. South Ossetian delegation headed by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.
