Participants of the 28 round of international discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia, which will be held June 18 in Geneva, intend to continue a discussion of the document on the non-use of force, as well as the situation at the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia.
The main issue of the security group will be to develop guarantees of non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia.
It will be considered the available draft documents, including the Russian initiative on adopting a joint declaration of all participants of the Geneva discussions on the non-use of force. The panelists also plan to discuss a range of humanitarian issues.
Earlier the agenda of the 28 round of discussions was agreed in Tskhinval during the visit of the delegation of the EU, the UN and the OSCE co-chairs, as well as representatives of the RF Foreign Ministry.
In the course of the previous round of talks, held in March 2014 the parties failed to reach a consensus on developing a legally binding document on the non-use of force between Georgia and South Ossetia, Georgia and Abkhazia. The panelists, in view of the "destructive position of the Georgian delegation" also failed to agree on the text of a joint statement of commitment to the principle of non-use of force.
The Geneva discussions are held since October 2008 after the armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia. They involve the delegation of South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Russia, Georgia, United States, as well as the UN, OSCE and EU.
South Ossetian delegation is headed by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev. The delegation has also included Deputy Foreign Minister Kazbulat Tskhovrebov, head of the South Ossetian delegation at the MPRI meetings Khokh Gagloyty, Commissioner for Human Rights Inal Tasoev.
