On Sunday, Tskhinval hosted the flower-laying ceremonies at the memorial complex to the fallen defenders of the Republic and the chapel at the memorial cemetery in the courtyard of school No. 5.
The events were dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Republic's Defense Ministry.
President Alan Gagloev, Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, Speaker of Parliament Alan Margiev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, the heads of ministries and departments, military personnel of the Republic of South Ossetia as well as the public took part in the flower-laying and wreath-laying ceremony.
Defender of the Fatherland Day in South Ossetia, along with Russia, is celebrated annually on February 23.
This significant day is considered a day of military glory, a holiday for men and women who participated in the defense of the Motherland.
