Security issues at the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia will be discussed at the first meeting in 2019 within the framework of theIncident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM). As noted by the Presidential Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev the meeting in the settlement of Ergneti is scheduled to take place on February 8.
“The South Ossetian party intends to focus on the fact that Georgia is aggravating the situation on the border. The political forces of the neighboring Republic are doing this in order to divert the attention of their citizens from the problems existing in Georgia today,” said Dzhioev.
The previous meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms was held on December 18, 2018.
Meetings in the format of the IPRM are held on a regular basis since 2009. Representatives of South Ossetia, Russia and Georgia traditionally participate in them, and they are held under the mediation of the OSCE and the European Union.
The South Ossetian delegation in the format of the IPRR is headed by the Deputy Presidential Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement, Yegor Kochiev.
