The head of the mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia in Italy, Mauro Murja, on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the Georgian aggression in August 2008, laid flowers at the memorial in the Ardeatine caves of Rome.
"In this way, we honored the memory of the lost civilians of South Ossetia who were aggressed by Georgia 11 years ago. The laying of flowers at the monument erected in the Ardeatine caves in memory of Italians executed there by the Nazis in 1944 has a certain symbolic meaning," said Murja RIA Novosti.
According to him, in both cases we are talking about the extermination of innocent people.
"Today, recalling those brutal events, we are talking about the need for peace and international recognition of the Republic of South Ossetia," said Murja.
