President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, laid flowers at the Beslan victims monument in St. Petersburg, the press service of the head of state reports. The monument to the children of Beslan was erected in the northern capital in 2007.
"The Chairman of the Parliament of North Ossetia-Alania, Alexei Machnev, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation, Znaur Gassiev, representatives of the Ossetian community in St. Petersburg also took part in the laying ceremony. Anatoly Bibilov also visited the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Malookhtinsky Prospekt, near which a monument to the victims of Beslan is erected," the press service said.
The delegation of South Ossetia arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in celebrations dedicated to the 270th anniversary of the First Embassy of Ossetia in Russia.
From October 23 to 25, will be held the Days of Ossetian Culture in St. Petersburg.
A multimedia historical park “Russia - My History” will open, within the framework of which scientific reports, concerts, documentary films will be held, master classes of national crafts and more will be organized.
The events will begin by showing a presentation film about Ossetia and a concert program with the participation of creative groups in Ossetia. The opening of the exhibition “Ossetia and Russia: the connection of times” will take place, including the expositions of the National Museums of South and North Ossetia.
The first Ossetian embassy left for Russia at the end of September 1749. It included Zurab Magkaev (Elikhanov), Eba (Elisey) Kesaev (Khetagov), Batyrmirza (Georgy) Tsopanov (Kurtaulov), Sozruko Tuganov and Kazi Kubatiev, as well as their accompanying persons. All members of the embassy were of noble origin, were well versed in politics and diplomacy.
