The Russian Embassy in South Ossetia explained how the experiment on creating a digital profile of a foreigner will be extended to the South Ossetian citizens.
“In accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of November 7, 2024, the experiment is being conducted in Russia to create a digital profile of a foreign citizen.
As far as South Ossetia is concerned, it will only affect the citizens of the Republic who do not have Russian citizenship, as well as Russian citizens when attempting to cross the Russian state border with the South Ossetian passport,” the press service has noted.
The experiment will include two modes of crossing the state border of the Russian Federation.
"The first regime is established for the period from December 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026 at air checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation at the international airports of Moscow (Sheremetyevo), Moscow (Domodedovo), Moscow (Vnukovo), Zhukovsky (Moscow Region) and the automobile checkpoint Mashtakovo (Orenburg Region).
As part of it, biometric personal data will be collected - a photograph of the face and fingerprints (with the exception of children under 6 years of age)," the Embassy said.
The second regime is introduced for the period from June 30, 2025 to June 30, 2026 at all checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation and provides for the need to:
- register in the federal state information system of identification and authentication using the mobile application "Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services (Functions)";
- sending the necessary data (clause 5 of the Rules for organizing the experiment) and no later than 72 hours (in emergency cases - such as the need for urgent treatment, serious illness or death of a close relative - no later than 4 hours) before the planned entry into Russia, filing an application for entry into Russia and stay (residence) in Russia through the mobile application of the "Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services (Functions)".
As information is received in the context of the practical implementation of this experiment, the relevant clarifications will be posted on the Embassy website.
