One of the main events of the year, Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev called the agreement between South Ossetia and Syria on the establishment of Trading houses.
“I consider this a very good step, since any political decision should be accompanied by the implementation of economic issues. Diplomatic contacts should turn into economic relations. And the opening of Trading houses is an important indicator,” said the head of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry.
In 2019, the first anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Syrian Arab Republic was celebrated. On August 31, the South Ossetian delegation made an official visit to Syria, during which Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development of South Ossetia Gennady Bekoev and Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of the SAR Samer Al Khalil signed the Agreement on the Establishment of Trading Houses.
Consultations are also ongoing on the opening of the South Ossetian embassy in Damascus and the Syrian diplomatic mission in Tskhinval.
