A native of South Ossetia living in Moscow, Alexander Zasseev, told the Res agency about quarantine measures in the Russian capital. As Zasseev noted, the threat of coronavirus infection is a reality.

“There is definitely a threat. I heard comments from people who were ill, among them there were those who had illnesses who quickly deteriorated and immediately ended up in a hospital with bilateral pneumonia. In the house in which I live there are about 400 apartments, and a virus has been detected in three apartments of residents. It seems to me that this is a very high statistic,” said Zasseev.

In his opinion, the main reason for this increase in patients is the lack of isolation of citizens who returned home from other countries.

“The main reason for the large number of infected people, in my opinion, is citizens who arrived from other states who were not strictly isolated by the authorities. Shortly before quarantine began, people flew in from countries where the virus had already been detected. A huge number of citizens returned to Moscow, these people then quietly traveled by metro throughout the city and no one prevented this,” he notes.

Zasseev notes that the streets are relatively calm, all shops are closed, except for grocery ones.

“The situation in the north of Moscow is quite calm: there are few people on the streets, most go in masks and keep their distance. In grocery stores, it’s quite crowded, the polka has to go shopping, but the buyers are also masked and try to keep their distance. There are people who go out into the city without masks, but not because of the reluctance to wear them, but because there is nowhere to buy them. Non-grocery stores work only by reservation and with home delivery,” said the eyewitness.

According to Zasseev, ambulance drivers are working on schedule. He noted that after two weeks of work they are quarantined in a hotel and if they do not get sick, then they again take up duty.

“Doctors come to the examination completely in suits and with all means of protection. Now medicine here has concentrated on quickly doing an X-ray or CT scan, to determine pneumonia, to provide the first to those who are in a difficult situation. There are cases when a person has a high temperature for several days, and the tests did not show anything,” he added.

Zasseev also noted that the organizers of private enterprises are in distress, because they are officially forbidden to work, and the rent has not been canceled and it is not known what will happen to them next.

In addition, according to him, a pass system is being introduced in Moscow on Wednesday, which is not so easy to obtain and it also worries residents.

“At all exits and entrances to the city there are patrols who will check the cars, the availability of documents and passes from citizens who will have to get such a pass in advance. In case of his absence, a fine of 15 thousand rubles is imposed. Residents of Moscow and the Moscow Region are entitled to receive a pass for their personal needs no more than twice a week. You can move around Moscow unhindered only on foot, you can’t even use a bicycle,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to Zasseev, people were in a difficult situation, since financial resources are already running out.
