Security issues related to the situation in the areas adjacent to the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia were discussed during a videoconference.

On Thursday, an online dialogue took place between Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for Post-Conflict Resolution Murat Dzhioev and his Deputy, head of the South Ossetian delegation in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), Yegor Kochiev, with the recently assumed head of the EU Observer Mission in Georgia, Marek Schigel.

"The participants noted the importance of the functioning of the IPRM and the Hot Line operating under the IPRM in maintaining stability and resolving many issues of the border region," the press service told IA "Res".

The participants in the dialogue expressed the wish to resume full-length IPRM meetings, which have not been held since August 2019 after the Georgian side constructed an illegal police post in the territory of South Ossetia near the village of Uista (Tsnelis).

South Ossetian participants have noted that the removal of this illegal post from the territory of South Ossetia can contribute to stability not only in this region, but also along the entire perimeter of the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia.

South Ossetian participants also noted the recent provocative actions of Georgian police at the state border, as well as illegal flights of the Georgian aircraft over the border, and called on the EUMM to respond to such actions.

"Other issues that could contribute to a calm and safe situation in the South Ossetian-Georgian border region were also discussed," the press service said.

For the South Ossetian part, Marina Ualyty, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in the video conference.
