His parents called him Chaysmel so that his life would be as sweet as tea. However, fate turned out differently, - with such words, the daughter Dunya Bagaeva has begun her story about her father. And, indeed, a lot of hardships and difficulties fell on the Bagaev family, starting from the times of the First World War.
In 1914, Chaimesl Bagaev was taken to the front; for three years he was held captive in Germany. He returned home at the age of 21. Not even a couple of years passed when a new misfortune came to the household, as well as to the entire Ossetian people, who were subjected to the genocide carried out by the Georgian fascists in 1920.
The family, fleeing the aggressors, along with other refugees took refuge in North Ossetia.
One of Chaismel’s brothers - Vanko, according to Dunya Bagaeva, could not endure the hunger and hanged himself on a tree.
“That hard time took several our relatives. And when the father’s family returned to their homeland, death was waiting for another of his brothers, who died, poisoned by the pear,” said Dunya.
When tears came to his eyes, Chaisemel began to sing to drown out the pain, tried to endure adversity steadily.
“Life began to improve a little. Over the years, my father was working at a garment factory in Baku, at the Sadon mining department in the Alagir district of North Ossetia. He showed himself there from the best side, also distinguished by considerable physical strength. Somehow, thanks to his ingenuity, it was possible to raise the cars that went off the rails. I remember once his photo was placed on the honorary board, then, when I was still small, I took it to myself, and still keep it,” shared the memories of her father Dunya..
Considerable trials fell on her in 1989, when the Georgian aggressors again began to carry out aggression against the Ossetian people.
“We lived in the village of Marana. Ossetians in every way were oppressed, Georgians ordered us to sign the document on the closure of the Rick tunnel, threatening reprisals. At night we were afraid to close our eyes. In our village, many Ossetians died from being beaten to death. One of the most egregious cases was how the fascists mocked a newly married girl. The daughter-in-law of the Ossetian family was raped by Georgian monsters.”
Two Ossetians were shot near the son of Dunya in the village of Tirdznis, the guy's legs gave way from horror and he fell to the ground, while Georgian monsters promised to spare him, if he brought them 50 thousand rubles in the morning.
“And the man who literally grew up in prison spoke of mercy for my son, he spent so much time there. We collected money with the help of relatives, after which we left everything we acquired there over the years and fled,” Dunya recalls.
According to her, at that time the Ossetians were subjected to brutal tortures on a national basis. One of the most sophisticated methods for the fascists was the burning of people's bodies with an iron.
“How many Ossetians were so crippled, among them was our friend Gogi Besaev. After the incident, he was taken to Vladikavkaz, but his life was not saved,” said Dunya.
It is difficult to find analogs in history to the atrocities committed by Georgian gang formations during that period What is only the Ered tragedy, when 12 Ossetians were buried alive underground, or the Zar tragedy, when a column of Ossetian refugees was shot, including women, children and the elderly. There will not be and cannot be oblivion of the pain of the Ossetian people. We will not forget and not forgive!
